Keydell real Christmas trees are available from November
Buy as fresh a tree as possible. This allows you to start with a high level of moisture in the tree.
Cut 1/4 inch off the bottom of the tree immediately before placing it in the tree stand. This opens up fresh water vessels in the trunk.
Use a tree stand with a large water capacity, holding at least one gallon.

Place one of our tree bags around the stand. Then you can bag the tree when you remove it, capturing most of the needles that fall and making clean-up quick and easy.

Fill the tree stand with warm water to help loosen the sap and allow the tree to drink the water. Keep the tree watered. A tree can drink a half-gallon of water a day for the first couple of days.

Check the water daily and refill as needed. Cool water is fine after the first day. Don't let the water level drop below the bottom because the sap will dry out and close off the water source.

Place the tree in a prominent location, but keep it away from heat sources like the fireplace, vents, or direct sun.
